In loving memory of Hunter Ralph Morley who was sadly born stillborn due to medical complications during pregnancy on the 3rd of September.
Hunter was a thriving baby who was developing nicely and both me and Kirk could feel him
Moving. However when we went for the scan it showed Hunter had vital organs missing to sustain his life and was alive only through me providing him with everything he needed. His condition was bilateral renal agenesis which means he did not develop kidney's during the early stages of pregnancy. This condition is very rare only 1:4000 babies are affected by this and Hunter was one of them. A major side effect of his condition, which meant no amniotic fluid could be created inside the amniotic sac as it is the babies urine that creates amniotic fluid and without kidneys he could not make urine.
Hunter was amazing and had managed to keep growing and developing in the normal way despite the lack of amniotic fluid which meant not only did he feel pain with movement as he had no fluid which works like bubble wrap, his lungs also could not develop correctly so as soon as I gave birth he would pass away immediately after the cutting of the umbilical cord as this was his life support.
After great deliberation and the breaking of our hearts we knew it was inhumane for Hunter to experience pain every day and suffer a painful traumatic death so we decided to help him sleep in the most humane method possible that was offered to us by giving birth to him early.
He was perfect to us in every way from his little eyebrows to his toe's and our hearts broke to say goodbye but we could not allow him to suffer.
We have decided to try and raise donations for Abigail’s footsteps which help hospitals and bereaved parents alike, with equipment and facilities for suffering parents to spend precious moments with their babies in a safe and comfortable environment, they also use funds to help train medical professionals in being compassionate and understanding of bereavement issues while dealing with the medical needs of baby, mother, father and other family members etc.
If you would like to donate in Hunters memory and help people like us continue to be supported we
Would really appreciate your help.
Hunters funeral is on Monday 17th September we have decided to keep this small and have only invited close family members, I hope people understand that this is a closed funeral service as this is a very emotional time for me and Kirk. But all messages of support and compassion are appreciated.
Love Melissa and Kirk
