In loving memory of Noel Welpton who sadly passed away on 9th August 2018. Noel was a talented musician and keen gardener.
Born on 25th December 1949 in Oxford, the youngest of five children to Mary and Stanley Welpton, Noel went to Southfield School followed by an apprenticeship at Morris Motors. Later, he worked for Taylor Wimpey before working for himself and seeing through a long career in computer engineering.
Noel was a talented musician learning various instruments including, piano, violin, guitar and even church organ. He played in a band called Cox Harris Combo. He would later help his children practice their music by accompanying on the piano. Ronnie Scott’s in London was a particular favourite music venue.
Dad loved gardens, both visiting and attending to his own where he filled his borders with colour, fruit and vegetables to share and enjoy with his friends.
Following a diagnosis of emphysema and lung cancers Dad passed away with his family at his side. We thank everyone who befriended and cared for Dad.

This looks most familiar. First, I'm so sorry to hear of your sad loss. I haven't seen Noel in many decades, but he and I were friends from when he turned up at SS Mary and John Junior School, through the Grammar School days at Southfield, until we lost contact in the late 60s. I always envied Noel his musical abilities (I tried, but couldn't keep up!). He was a larger-than-life character, even in his teens!
