I worked with Jose for several years at the Riverside (back in the Burton Inns days). He and Isabel were a wonderful couple to work with, and I was gutted when Isabel passed away.

Jose had an ageless quality to him and a wonderful spark of humour that came out when you least expected it. He was fantastic at his job and really cared about both the Riverside family and the customers who came in week after week. I can remember wading past his house when the Riverside was struck with the awful flooding and I had to get to work through a massive pool of water at the entrance. The git stood there and he laughed himself silly at me with my skirt up around my thighs, screeching at how cold the water was. Kept offering to loan me his ladder. Ah, the days.

I am so sorry for this loss, but so happy that he can be with his beloved Isabel now.

RIP, Joe. You were one of the "good'uns"

Tania, I’m so sorry for your loss. Your dad was an amazing man and he did such a lovely job for my hubby and I on our wedding day! I remember him asking us if there was anything we wanted or needed, we asked him if he wouldn’t mind taking us up some cupcakes to our room. He said he didn’t mind so we asked him to take up 2 chocolate and 2 lemon ones.
When we got to our room he had left us the 2 chocolate cupcakes however instead of 2 lemon cakes he had actually left us 2 🍋. We laughed so hard as we realised that we hadn’t actually said 2 lemon flavoured cakes we just said 2 lemons!!! I dread to think what your dad thought we were going to do with them!!!
