BIGGS, Roderick (Roger), passed away after a short illness in Granby, Nottinghamshire, on July 24th 2018 aged 82. Roger was born in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta, Canada on the 2nd of July 1936.
In 1959 he married Patricia (Pat) Collins, they celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary on the 27th of June 2018. Together they raised one son, Rick.
Roger joined the Canadian Air Force at the age of 16 and trained as an aircraft electrician, eventually leaving the Air Force he and Pat settled in Ottawa where he worked for the Department of Transport. They moved to Calgary during the late 1970’s where Roger worked in the oil industry before returning to Ottawa in the early 1980’s where Roger and Pat started a successful insurance brokerage - Manotick Insurance Brokers.
On retirement Roger and Pat moved to the United Kingdom to be near their son Rick in the Nottingham area. Roger continued to enjoy hunting, golf and helping his son and partner on their farm in the village of Granby until shortly before his passing.
He is survived by wife Pat, son Rick and partner Michael and his sister Aleta, brothers Fraser and James.
A celebration of Roger’s life will be held on Friday 10th of August 2018 at the Gedling Crematorium in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
The family have requested that in lieu of flowers donations can be made to The British Heart and Lung Foundation
