Two years ago you went away,
I continue to miss you every day,
They say it gets easier as time goes by,
But that is just a lie,
It hurts as much today as it did the day you said goodbye.

It’s the second Mother’s Day since you went away
It’s been 20 months but feels like yesterday
Mum, I still miss you every day.

I didn’t buy the Kawasaki, I got a Yamaha instead
It’s been four months and five thousand miles, and you’re still dead
Mum, I still miss you every day.

I’m still not smoking it’s been seven months, almost eight
Naturally I gained a little weight
I’m back in the pool and using the gym
In the hope that I’ll get slim but
Mum, I still miss you every day.

I dream about you often, I hug you and I say
Please don’t leave me, please don’t go away
Mum, I still miss you every day.

Today I visited the Crem with Auntie Christine we came to say Hi
We wanted to see the daffodils growing in the grounds
I searched for you to see if you were around

Today would have been your 71st and I just have to say,
It’s been over a year and a quarter
And I still miss you every day.

You’re not here for me to chat to
But I’d like to let you know
I quit smoking 3 and a half months ago.

There is one more thing I’m proud of
I passed my motorbike test at last
If you were here you’d want a promise
That I’ll not ride too fast!

You missed out on the bike shopping
Richard helped me pick
I’m getting a Kawasaki 650cc
I’ll be so nervous the first time I ride it, I’ll probably be sick!!

A year ago I said goodnight and slept right by your side,
I awoke to find you'd left me in the hospital all alone and in a bind,
I had to call the family then and let them know by phone,
that Mum has gone to a better place and left us on our own.
I miss you every day. xx

RIP Cousin Joey you will be surly missed
