In loving memory of Johanna McCarthy who sadly passed away on 19th July 2018

Mum was born on 2nd October 1955 along with with John Denny her twin. She grew up on the Kingswood Estate, South London and sadly in her late teens her Mum and Dad died so this led to her having to grow up fast and take responsibility.
She gave birth to me in 1976 and later on met and married Greg McCarthy in the eighties, they we instant soul mates. She started work at an early age trying several different professions; eventually becoming a civil servant for the local council which she continued to do until she became ill in her thirties.
At this point she became extremely sick, she lost her fingers on her left hand and we all thought she wouldn't make it but she did and continued to do so through out her life time, she didn't moan about her health, but carried on no matter what and she always took care of her family.
She was the backbone of the McCarthy's.
Johanna` was such an a amazing woman, always there for her friends and family. We are so blessed to have been in her presence for all these years and are so sad to see her go but know that she is in a better place now among the clouds with no more pain or suffering and we thank God for that.
SO, lets not be sad! but celebrate her life and legacy that she left behind. x

Such sad news. I am so sorry that I will not be able to be at Jo's funeral today to celebrate her life. She was such a generous and warm hearted person and I am so glad to have met up with her again last year and found she was the same person that I remembered from 30 years ago.
