I was so saddened to hear of Mick Taylor's passing. A chance finding while sorting through some very old papers was a tatty green Gestetnered A4 programme of an evening I will never forget. May 1978. Alpana Sengupta, Mick Taylor and Markande Misra, tabla at Jacksons Lane Community Centre, Archway Road, London. Also advertising Alpana's Indian Dance Classes on Saturday afternoons at 60p. I have since lived elsewhere and lost touch, a mistake I now realise.

In loving memory of Michael Taylor who sadly passed away on 21st June 2018
Mick was a devoted husband to Alpana, father to Arun and grandfather to Anouk, Cassidy and Jetson. He will be remembered to lovers of Indian classical music as a talented sitarist and together with his wife, Alpana, he was a pioneering influence in developing the interest and awareness of Indian music and dance throughout Britain since 1976. He was one of the very few westerners to have gone so deeply into the study of the history, theory and practise of the Sitar and to have achieved the status of solo concert artist. His playing was especially noted for its depth of feeling (raag-dari) and for its authenticity. Mick's creativity spanned compostion for televsion and films, dance productions as well as promoting concerts for visiting Indian artistes. He will be very sadly missed.
