Our son Mark made a video tribute to Steve which was shown at his Thanksgiving Service after his committal.
I'm posting it here, as a memory to Steve.

Well Steve, it's arrived, the day of your funeral, words escape me.. A life taken far too soon, without warning. You've always meant so much to me throughout my life, from being 12yrs old when my sister introduced you to our family. I knew then I liked you and soon thereafter, loved you. I hope today I can be strong and do you proud. Love and miss you always, your kid sister, Dianne.xxx

Mr Jones, what can I say. Since I heard of your passing I’ve been devastated. Knowing you has been a pleasure, and the idea that our Friday afternoon coffees, where we would put the world to rights, and get things off our chest, is no longer possible makes me sad.

Even through that cool calm persona, Steve’s passion for learning and teaching and challenging boundaries was second to none. However he had a greater passion than all that, which was his family, and when I first heard of the devastating news, his family were the first thing I thought of.

My thoughts and best wishes are with them in these sad times. Hang on to those good memories. I know I will.

Farewell Mr Jones, I’ll see you on the other side, rest in peace my friend

Steve's passing will doubtless leave an aching void in the hearts and minds of many who knew him. To myself and my dear late wife he was always more than just a son-in-law, he was considered a son. Rest easy Steve.

I knew Steve for a relatively short period of time at Honeywell, where we were both in the estimation team. I had the pleaseure of meeting him soon after I joined the team, and he made me very welcome. Since, he was always willing to help with his technical knowledge. He will be greatly missed by me and all the team. RIP Steve.

I had the extreme pleasure of being a colleague of Steve's at Honeywell. Amongst the pressures and chaos of a working life he was always calm and collected and often lifted the spirit of those around him through his dry wit.

A true engineer in every sense of the word, outstanding technical ability and showed us all at HW what a security expert really looks like. I have fond memories of attending a security conference with Steve in the North East and truly felt the masters apprentice as he guided me round the room and could explain anything on show between a lot of hellos and handshakes of people around the room showing Steve was clearly well known and respected in his industry.

An amazing colleague and friend who will be sorely missed but certainly always remembered!!

Love and thoughts to you all at this time.

Pete (AKA the security masters apprentice)
