Sadly Gary passed away on Monday 7th May after a painful battle of Sarcoma cancer. There was never a time that Gary didn’t have something to fight and over come. From 3 massive lung operations, chest wall resection, continous chemotherapy whether IV or tablets, radiotherapy, passing out, double pneumonia, clinical trials and sadly the toughest battle at the end that made him so incredibly weak. Throughout Gary’s 3 year battle he was my warrior and fought it with everything he had. No human being should go through what he did. It was a battle from start to finish as he never had a time when he heard good news.

Gary was everything a person should be, he was the best person I have ever met. No nastiness in him. Always put others first, friendly, caring, loving, funny, extremely talented, dedicated to his family, generous, independent, loyal and above all my soul mate who I’ve lost forever.

We were blessed to have a good life together and make 3 beautiful children who are going to carry their dads legacy.

We want to celebrate Gary's life as he made an impact on so many people whether through family, friends or work.

Please can you respect that we dont want anyone wearing black unless its just the bottom half. If you can please wear a block colour and try to avoid heavy floral or patterned prints.

For flowers we are asking for family flowers only and for them to be sent direct to the funeral directors as we would like the car filled with the flowers. For friends there will be a just giving page set up on this page and you can donate if you wish too.

Can everyone please bring a single red steamed flower which you will be able to lay down upon Gary as your leaving the crematorium. This represents your love to Gary and his love for Liverpool!

You will see above there is a link asking if you are attending. I would be grateful if you would respond so I have an idea how many people are coming and how many in your party are attending.

There are many ways you can leave messages for the family on this link. You can post your own individual message, light a candle and post as many photos as you like. This link will be live for a year so you can re enter information as and when you would like to. This is a massive contributor for my family healing processes. We will get great comfort from reading your messages and seeing photos of Gary that we might not of seen before. After the year is up, all this information gets collated and is presented to the kids and me in a beautiful bound book. Please help be part of this wonderful keepsake for us all.

This is a horrible, disgusting disease and anything that can be done to find ways and means to stop the suffering of those struck down by Sarcoma is a fitting way to commemorate the memory of Gary Todd. He was a kind, funny, wonderful man who should never have had to suffer as he did. We will never forget him and his bravery in the face of this disease.

My first memory of Gary was as a junior typographer at CDP under Len Cheeseman. I was asked to go in and take a brief from this young sharp dude who had a huge talent for type, he gave me a ‘headline/body copy’ to cut up for the Chiquito brand, 'reams and reams of it', which was the way before digital!
It was the first of many jobs we worked on together. Our client/supplier relationship soon became a very dear friendship, with a love of golf helping the initial stages.
We had many a battle over the years on various golf courses across the country, ranging from a very wet afternoon at Wentworth to a very sunny day at Gleneagles in Scotland, where after a few drinks Toddy asked me to be best man at his forthcoming wedding to Allison, which has always been a great honour for me.
Gary you will be sadly missed my friend, We didn’t see so much of each other over the last few years as our family took most our time but I will always remember you as a great friend, a fantastic husband and father and very talented designer…you will be truly missed by all who knew and loved you
Typography is the use of type to advocate, communicate, celebrate, educate, elaborate, illuminate, and disseminate. Along the way, the words and pages become art….you had the talent to create art my friend R.I.P xx
