In loving memory of Sheena Brady who sadly passed away on 23rd April 2018. She will be so missed by all who knew her, but especially her children Sally and Andrew, her daughter-in-law Michelle, and her grandchildren Ewan, Eve and Frank.
Sheena was born in Hornchurch but grew up in Scotland with her grandma. She retained her Scottish identity (her parents Elizabeth and Matthew were from Lanarkshire) despite spending most of her adult life south of the border: in Romford, Emerson Park, Billericay, and finally in Great Notley, having moved there after the death of her beloved husband Brian. They had married in 1956 and enjoyed a wonderful and loving relationship, filled with special times. Brian's family welcomed Sheena (who was an only child) with open arms, especially her sisters-in-law Christine and Maureen, and their husbands Gordon and Eddie.
She had many jobs - including as a West End manicurist doing Audrey Hepburn's nails! - but once the children were settled at school she trained as a teacher, spending many years in Benhurst Primary, and later moving on to teach in secondary schools in Billericay.
A keen (even fanatical) quizgoer, Sheena appeared on Brain of Britain, Countdown and Fifteen to One, as well as adding at least 50% more points to the total of any quiz team lucky enough to have her on board. After moving to Great Notley she was an enthusiastic participant in local activity from the WI to the bowls club, and made many new, and lasting, friendships, to add to those she had made earlier in life.
We in her close family have been privileged to spend so many special days with Sheena, and memories of her wit, warmth and love will stay with us for ever. We would love to know more from those who knew her so please do leave a message or share photos on her page.
