Margaret Anne Haggar (19 May 1944 - 1 May 2018)

In loving memory of Margaret Anne Haggar who sadly passed away on 1st May 2018
A much loved partner to Alan, Mum to daughters Louise and Emma, and adored Nanny to Sam, Amber, Ellis and Dylan and great grandchildren Thomas and Autumn.
Mum grew up as an only child in Tamworth enjoying the freedom that came with the carefree days of the 50’s, she was a keen member of the local youth club and had her first visit abroad to with them, she was also a competitive roller and ice skater and also any opportunity to see bands playing or an invite dancing was swiftly accepted and enjoyed...having a drink with Mick Jagger was her claim to fame when The Rolling Stones rocked up in the small market town of Tamworth for a gig at the Assembly rooms. Mum left school at 16 to work as a ‘Woolies Girl.
At the age of 20 Mum married and moved to Coventry, working as a time and motion keeper at The Torrington Needle factory before moving over to Potters Green and starting a family. Whilst bringing us up she’d attend night school doing various courses that took her fancy, mainly creative, artistic crafty types...being jabbed by pins as we were being fitted with home made clothing, the boredom endured whilst having to sit whilst she practised still life and portraits and numerous times there’d be no soaking in the bath as she’d be soaking a tub full of corn ready to make corn-dollies instead! One course she never quite mastered though was driving and after a number of attempts gave up... much to the our relief, although she then mastered the art of passenger driving...very well and vocally!
As we got older Mum took on a part time job at Bell Greens Sainsbury’s and then when her marriage ended a house move to Whitley ensued along with another job change this time as a full time Insurance Clerk for Axa/Equity & Law. Mum made the most her new found social life, with new friends, holidays to Europe and the Far East and more ‘hobbies’ Crown Green Boules and Golf , although this was given up sooner than expected when she knocked the family Dog out cold with her back swing!
After finding herself in want of a plumber one day one duly arrived after word of mouth from a girlfriend, he then hung around happily for the next 25 years making her life complete and fulfilled. Alan and Mum should of met years before they did but made up for lost time, spending many happy times staying in North Devon with her beloved dog Barney joining them, pottering around the antiques shops, gardening, visiting Bideford for a ice cream and Instow for fish and chips on the beach. Happy Days...
Retirement age was reached and finally more time with the Grandchildren where she always had an excuse for a visit to Macdonalds or a cake or two to be eaten.
Whilst Mum passed a bit sooner than expected she went how she wanted, peacefully, having spent time with all the family and with the sun rays shining on her face.
I feel blessed and thankful that she was my Mum and a proud, loving and devoted Grandma to my children and grandchildren.
Her smile, beauty and presence will be missed beyond words by all of us forever.
