It is only now that I have heard about Nigel’s passing. I have very fond memories of him, through Basingstoke Gang show and also as an HR Professional. I saw Nigel at many CIPD networking events. He was such a gentle friendly man and passionate about HR.
Please accept my sincere sympathy. I know how much he will be missed.

Nigel Pierce died peacefully surrounded by his loving family at St Michael’s Hospice on Saturday 14th April.
Cllr Nigel Pierce was elected in 2014 to serve the Buckskin ward on the Borough Council and in 2015 he was appointed Chair of the Council’s Scrutiny Committee.
Lover of the arts and theatre, Nigel Pierce was the Chair of the Haymarket Theatre Trust and set up a bursary scheme for young people wanting to train professionally in the arts. Actively involved with local churches and charities recently he chaired the all churches group in Basingstoke. Nigel worked tirelessly as trustee for the Camrose Centre supporting people at risk of homelessness or rough sleeping.
He supported his community through the difficult floods of 2014, was a strong supporter of the Ridgeway Community Centre and was widely respected in the Council and beyond for his diligence and commitment to his duties as a councillor.
Nigel was born and brought up in Ealing, West London. He married Julie in 1982, they were married for 36 years and have three sons, David, Stuart and Nathan, and one daughter, Alexandra.
Nigel worked at the Public and Commercial Services Union for six years before retiring in 2012 and prior to that Nigel was a HR consultant at Surrey County Council and worked for Transport for London, Cubic Transportation Systems and Drake and Scull all in HR and Personnel. He studied at both Kingston College and Portsmouth Polytechnic.
Nigel will be deeply missed my many and here we hope to be able to caputure some happy memories of Nigel to tresaure forever. Please feel free to leave a message, add photo's or light a candle for Nigel.
There will be a church service for Nigel to be held at St Leonards Church, Oakley at 2pm on May 3rd. All would be welcome and the family would ask to wear bright colours. There will be family flowers only but if desired you can make a donation on the just giving page which is linked to St Michaels Hospice, alternatively you can donate at the service.
