In loving memory of Barry Knight who sadly passed away on 11th April 2018
Barry was born in Leatherhead, Surrey and was one of 11 children. His father was Robert, affectionately known as 'Sailor' and Doris Knight. When Barry was still a young lad the family moved to 124 Horton Hill, Epsom where they remained until Sailor died many years later.
On leaving school Barry started work as a projectionist at the Odeon Cinema in Epsom. In 1950 Barry sign up and joined the RAF spending the next 5 years at a variety of places. One of the postings he spoke about most, and with great affection, was his time in Khartoum. He often regaled the family with stories of flying around in a variety of aircraft, witnessing a solar eclipse in the middle of the desert, and how the local people had a habit of 'liberating' anything that wasn't nailed down!
Over the years he had a variety of jobs including - Bricklaying, Bakery Supervisor, Sales Representative & Sales Manager. In his later years he found time to work for his local Doctors as a driver.
Throughout his life the most important things to Barry were his wife Sylvia (they met and grew up together in Horton Hill),his son Graham, and his three Grandchildren Laura, Sarah & Emma. His love and concern for them remained uppermost in his mind right up until the end.
