In loving memory of Maureen Bissington who sadly passed away on 9th April 2018

She was one amazing lady living to just a few months before her 90th birthday.
She was a daughter, sister, wife, mum and nana.
Right up until the end she would ask 'how's the kids'; that was to her the most important thing - family.

She started showing signs of Dementia 10 years ago and combined with the impact of several TIA's her memory and personality became impaired. With great difficulty, her loving husband John had to let her go to a care home in January 2016 where her everyday needs were better catered for.

Her care home staff described her as pleasantly disorientated, we sometimes said 'away with the fairies' but Dave described her as 'happy dippy', but even so she still knew and recognised the majority of her family. She looked on the other residents and carers as her friends and was very contented in her last years.

Maureen had a long and loving marriage with John celebrating their 66th wedding anniversary last March and they had been a couple for over 68 years. They still held hands and kissed and cuddled right to mum's last breathe.

On a day like today we would often be singing 'the sun has got its' hat on, hip hip hip hooray' as she shuffled along by my side.

She never lost her sense of humour or manners and this is something we should all admire whilst grieving our loss but celebrating and remembering her life.

Maureen's funeral will be at the Kingsdown Crematorium at 12 noon on Friday 11th May 2018. Everyone is welcome afterwards to the Blunsdon House Hotel to raise a glass in her memory.

My parents and I are talking about Maureen. My mother will always remember her as “ silly auntie Maureen” .... Always making jokes on the edge and poor uncle Ted was always the target. Maureen would send him birthday cards which were very naughty and the poor man didn’t know where to look...
They also keep lovely memories that Maureen was at their wedding 51 years ago. She enjoyed her stay in Holland very much.

Maureen, my dear friend. All those years of a deep, and loving friendship. Those years of raising our children together, our trips to Westcliff and Southend during the Summer holidays, riding in my Mini, 6 of us would cram into the car, and off we would go. On the way back the car covered in sand and sleepy kids. And, on the odd occasions we wouldn't see each other, the long telephone conversationss although we only lived accrosss the road. John never could understand why the phone bill was so big. Sorry! John. Farewell my dear friend, till we meet again. All love, Wend the friend.
