In loving memory of Lindsey Geraldine Welch (nee Tate), who sadly passed away on 29th March 2018 after a long battle with Ovarian Cancer.

Lindsey was born on 4th June 1953 in Taunton, one of four daughters to Peter and Hazel Tate. She grew up in Cheddon Fitzpaine, attending North Town Primary School and then The Castle School for her secondary education. As a young girl, she was a cadet in the St John's Ambulance Service, and a budding dancer and ballerina. She always enjoyed outdoor pursuits, and would often spend many hours in her youth cycling around the countryside near her home and visiting Hestercombe House and Gardens with her sisters, where her father was the Assistant Divisional Officer to the Somerset Fire Brigade, based there at the time.

Lindsey had a variety of jobs as a young lady, but eventually settled on a career working at Barclay's Bank in Taunton. It is here that she met her future husband, Norman. They eventually got married and had one son, Joshua, at which point she gave up work at Barclay's Bank to be a full time wife and mother.

Lindsey loved the South West, and many happy family holidays were spent down in Cornwall. She also enjoyed walking up on the Quantock Hills, as well as visiting local towns and villages, particularly if they were by the sea! She also enjoyed travelling further afield, and went on many lovely family holidays to destinations across Europe, America, Asia and the Middle East, to name but a few.

Lindsey was a truly kind, selfless, genuine and loving individual, who would always put the needs of others before herself. She was glamourous and stylish, as well as always being cheerful, positive, optimistic and resilient, despite the health problems that life threw at her. She was extremely popular, and was taken far too soon. She will be missed dearly by all those who were fortunate enough to have known her.

Lindsey is survived by her husband, Norman, her son, Joshua, and her three sisters, Annabel, Pauline and Alison. Her funeral will take place at Taunton Deane Crematorium on Friday 20th April 2018 at 1130. Lindsey requested family flowers only for her funeral, but anyone wishing to make a donation instead, please donate to the Beacon Centre, Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, who cared so diligently for Lindsey in her final weeks.

Norman and Josh would be very grateful if any of Lindsey's family and friends could upload any memories, anecdotes or pictures onto this site, to provide a fitting and lasting tribute to her, which they can then have printed as a memorial book to Lindsey.

My darling wife, today is the 6th anniversary of the day you were taken from Josh and I.
It has been incredibly difficult to understand why and to deal with.
I miss you so much, that sometimes everything seems pointless. I miss your laughter, companionship and unconditional love. I look forward to being with you again one day my darling.
All my love, Simon xxx

I think of you so often but particularly at this time of year, when things were really difficult for you six years ago. You are so missed by us all and you would be so very proud of Josh and how well he is doing in his career and Simon too who keeps such a tidy home and is an excellent cook!
Our days out together stick in my mind, how we loved a coffee and a shop.
Thinking of you.xxx

My Darling, one of the last things we did together was in summer 2017 when we visited Abbotsbury Gardens with Josh and Katie. It was a beautiful day and we had a wonderful time. I miss our days out and trips around the South West.

Dearest Mum, thinking of you today- I can’t believe that it’s been 3 years. I don’t know where the time is going. I miss you as much today as the day you passed away- life is so cruel and unfair sometimes. At least you didn’t have to suffer in hospital during the COVID pandemic- it would have been unbearable not being able to see you or hug you. Dad and I had a drink for you this evening as we always do- we both wish so much that you were still here. Please continue to watch over us; we love you so much. All my love, Josh x x x

Puerto Pollensa Majorca 1987. We thought we were going to Portugal, but ended up in Majorca, where we had a wonderful time, enjoying the weather, the food and cycling around the Island. Very Happy Days.

My darling Lindsey, I miss you as much today as I did the day we first started dating. You were the most wonderful wife and mother. Could you have been a better wife? Not in a million years. Could I have been a better husband? Absolutely!! You are in my thoughts every single day and will be till we are reunited.
