In loving memory of Nigel Douglas Mackenzie Denver who sadly passed away on 13th March 2018.
Nigel was born in Glasgow just before the war. He became a musician at a young age and went on to be a successful folk artist releasing 8 solo albums and appeared on other folk recordings with many other musicians. He was the first folk artist to be signed to a major record label ( Decca ) and played concerts all his working life.
2 Children, Kelly and Seamus by Valerie and 1 adopted child, Tim.
He lived out his days in Birmingham and saw himself as an honourory " Brummie ". A much and widely loved character he will be missed deeply.
Just seen the sad news. In 1966, ND gigged at the Halamshire Pub in Sheffield, the regular Sheffield Uni Friday night Folk Club venue. The following day I bought my first LP. Only a year ago I transferred it from vinyl to digital. Thank you ND for the music I still play regularly in my classic Rover mini (but only when my wife and kids/grand kids are not around). Best wishes to all whom he loved.
Just found out about the loss of Nigel. As a 16 year old, I was at the Saracens Head pub in Lincoln every Sunday evening for the Folk Club lead by Nigel. Some of my most vivid memories of that era of my life come from there. It was amazing and I've never seen its equal. I'm almost 70 now but memories of those evenings are still vivid. Nigel was a great and under-recognised talent. Paul Hayes.
I don't think we met, Paul, but I was there too! I have some wonderful memories of the folk club and also the stimulating conversations with Nigel and Valerie. Sad to see that he is gone but seems that he really lived life to the full. Kathleen Knott

Sorry but it was the Turks Head Newport Lincoln,(not the Saracen's) but for a very long while before that, he was a fixture at The Swiss Cottage, Newland. Wonderful days they were, lots of beer, smoke and singing. Never forgotten always missed. Nigel C
Hi Kelly my self and my late mum were friends of your mum Valerie and my late grandad and grandma lived in the house next door to her in Hereward St many years ago . I used to go to the Swiss Cottage and the Turks Head to hear Nigel sing . They were a nice crowd that went to those Folk nights .

Beautiful photo. Takes me back to a night in the 60’s when we missed the ferry. I was just looking up Nigel on the internet for my wife as her mother and Nigels mother were cousins I believe.
I was tortured and amazed by you Nigel, I have so many brilliant memories, I used to bring my son to the session , you put him to work to sell raffle tickets as the sales increased he was only 4, I loved your stories your music one in a million xxxxRip 🧐
