Eileen was the last of the great ladies of her generation and friendship group and will be sorely missed. A true Yorkshire lass she never forgot her roots and I remember with fond memories the time she stayed with me. You know how whenever I sent her presents from Yorkshire she would immediately spring into a Yorkshire dialect and drive everyone mad? Well the whole week she was with me she insisted in speaking Yorkshire and telling everyone she met that she was a true Yorkshire lass! We visited Ilkley where she grew up and her childhood home. As no one was in when we knocked, we took the liberty of looking around, much to my mother’s disapproval who stayed in the car and waited! Eileen of course loved it! We then went to the Cow and Calf on Ilkley Moors for lunch, and spent the week touring the Dales reigniting memories of her childhood and holidays with Eric, and of course we visited Betty’s the famous tearooms in Harrogate for tea! It was a special time and one I will remember with much fondness.
Love
Helen
