Wow Dad, memories, where do I begin? So many so will top and tail them with the first and last.
First memory was us going to see my first football match, watching Derby County in the early 1980s. For some reason, I kept chanting the lyric 'Tottenham, Tottenham, no one can stop them! - it was the only football song I knew at the time but Spurs weren't even playing and we were in the Derby end! Didn't go down that well with Dad but it was all good spirited.
Just about the final living memory was my last visit and was just the two of us being together for much longer than we had done before. We chatted casually about stuff. I wasn't late to arrive or in a rush to leave. I wasn't distracted by sorting stuff out - it was just a nice private father & son time together.
Today was a very nice, well attended farewell to Dad and a fitting wake and opportunity to meet Dads friends, many for the first time. For everyone who attended or conveyed your condolences, thank you.
