Sorry to hear about the passing of my niece, Ann. Although I left England many years ago, when we were all children. I had the pleasure of spending time with Ann when she visited me in Long Island, New York with my sister, Merle; my niece, Trish; and Ann's son, Leon. We had a wonderful time with her and the family; I never knew that would be the last time, I would see her in person. I will always treasure my memory of her.

To your mum, Aunty Merle and family, may you find peace and comfort knowing that she is in a better place. I never knew her but from what I've heard and read, she was a beautiful soul. My family is praying for you all.

My dearest memory of Ann was of her, as a small girl, singing, oh, so earnestly,
"We belong to a fambilee, the fambilee of Yahweh..."
What a little sweetheart, she brought warmth to my heart and laughter to my eyes. I still find myself singing that, just like that, at various times, & remembering her.
She is now experiencing that great Family in all it's amazing diversity, and in this smaller version she will be sorely missed.
Until the morning, Ann, when all the shadows flee away!

We applaud the courage and strength of character Ann displayed throughout her illness. She no longer has to fight as she's at rest and in a Better place. We wish her family Heaven's comfort and strength as they go into a future without her. May the precious memories sustains all who knew and loved her.

Ann, you were our colleague but the things we remember about you have made us realise you were so much more.

We loved: Your independence, your air of quiet rebellion when it came to authority, your individuality, your humour, your smile, your glorious giggle, the brilliantly spangled shoes you wore, your ability to speed walk in heels compared with an incredibly slow trudge to the filing room, your amazing calves, the bluntness of your emails (if only others had employed such succinct messages), your no-nonsense attitude, the absence of drama, your late lunches, your confidence in being you without need of explanation or apology.

Your passing has left an Ann shaped space in our lives, but we’ll be always grateful that we knew you and shared your space for a little while.

Sent on behalf of Mel Boulter, Amy Farmer, Kate Horton, Teresa O'Leary, Jo Thornhill, Alex Zervos and Jane Flewitt.
