In loving memory of our dear father Ashley Gordon Earl who sadly passed away on 4th February 2018 aged 65 years. He is survived by his mother Audrey, his brother Keith, his four daughters Michelle, Donna, Lynda and Sarah and his eight grandchildren, all of whom he adored.
Ashley was born in Calcutta in India in 1952 and attended St Vincent's High and Technical School in Asansol. He came to England when he was 13 and attended Friern Barnet Secondary School in North London followed by Nork Park County School in Banstead. On moving to Croydon in 1967, he attended St Thomas Moore school and upon leaving joined the Post Office. In 1971, he began working at Philips of Croydon as a TV Engineer where he met many of his life long friends. He later worked as a telecommunications engineer for 38 years at British Telecom. He married in 1974 and together with Anne had his four daughters.
Ashley had a passion for music and a great talent for playing the guitar and singing. He performed in various bands with his dear friends since the age of 17. He exuded charisma and had the ability to get people up and dancing on the dance floor. Ashley was full of fun with a great sense of humour and was always so young at heart.
Ashley had recently retired and was enjoying life at a slower pace with his partner Loretta, enabling him to spend more time with his growing family, precious times we will treasure forever.
His funeral will be held at Beckenham Crematorium at 9.45am on Wednesday 28th February. Shortly following, family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Ashley's life at the Victory Club in South Norwood.
The family kindly decline gifts of flowers but are grateful for donations to either of the two nominated charities, details of which can be found on this page.
We deeply appreciate your expressions of sympathy and please ask you to share on this page any photos or videos of Ashley living the life he loved so much.
Michelle, Donna, Lynda and Sarah
