In loving memory of Edward Ernest Mills who sadly passed away on 3rd February 2018.
Edward (Ted) was born in Lambeth, London in August 1929. He was evacuated with his brother and classmates to the Sussex countryside in 1939 at the outbreak of WWII. His father worked at the Royal Ordnance Factory in London, and was moved up to Risley, Warrington during the war. Ted and his brother, John, were able to join their parents in Warrington after they had finished their school examinations. Ted then went to college in Salford but had to give up his formal education and find work when his father became blind. He eventually found long-term employment at Joseph Crosfield and Sons; first as a pipe fitter and later as a draughtsman, working his way up to Drawing Office Manager when he retired. He met his wife Marjorie at a dance at the Parr Hall in Warrington and they were married in 1955, for almost 50 years. They had a daughter, Susan and two grandsons, Christopher and Mark.
