In loving memory of Michael Donald Terry who sadly passed away so suddenly and unexpectedly on 25th January 2018, aged 75 years.

Michael was a treasured Husband, Dad, Grandad and Brother who will be hugely missed by his family and many friends.

He will always be remembered for his sense of humour (not always PC!), interesting stories, generosity, love of wine and for being a good, reliable friend.

His renditions of Elvis, Tom Jones, Roy Orbison and many more will be remembered fondly by his friends in the Nottingham Climbers' Club and as one of those friends recently said; "Elvis has now left the building."

Family flowers only please by request but donations may be sent to A W Lymn - Hucknall who will pass them onto the family’s 2 chosen charities: East Midlands Ambulance Service and Peak District Mountain Rescue.

Black attire will not be essential at the funeral service.

Mick was a very intrepid adventurer and a great sportsman but he was always interested in trying something new. We miss his humour, his sense of the ridiculous and his great joy of life. A very rare and good man.

We are both still in shock over the news of Micks death, and greatly saddened by it.
Unfortunately our memories are starting to fade, but here are a few about Mick.

Ann and I have known Mick for a long time. I knew him before the N.C.C was formed. Those were the days of catching the Manchester X-2 to Bakewell. then the Hulleys 'boneshaker' to various grit stone edges. Many of the trips involved sleeping under bridges, boulders, in caves or barns, then came tents!!!!.

Ann knew Mick when the N.C.C was formed, and along with her sister Wendy and Mary Small attended many meets helping to fill the seats on the buses or the lorries.. In fact she knew Mick before we met, and Mick along with a few others, accused me of stealing one of the N.C.C girls (Rescued???).

In the mid-sixties we both worked together in the tool room at Bentleys Engineering. Mick could always be relied on to liven the place up with numerous Roy Orbison & Elvis songs.

Fast forward now to the seventies, when we received a phone call from Mick which started like " Hi Dez, Mick Terry here, we are in the Detroit area!" and then ended with me saying, " no one stays in Detroit, come to Colorado !!" So a short time later Mick & Dee arrived in Denver.

That time in Denver was great, lots of 'stinky cheese' evenings, evenings playing pool, cards and listening to Bob Seger. Many weekends climbing on crags before the guide books were written. Winter weekends were spent skiing as a foursome at Loveland & Vail Ski areas (in -5f to -10f temps at times).
Mick and I thought we were the bees knees having moved from the 'stem kristie' to parallel turns. The Black Diamond runs and the back bowls at Vail were a wake up call. We had a great time' but we didn't really 'ski' them:- we survived them.

Mick and Dee returned to the U.K. to start a family, so once again contact with them became limited to Christmas cards, phone calls and the occasional visit when we were back in England.

Despite this, the friendship remained strong, he was a good companion, great story teller ( some slightly embellished) and a true friend to both of us and will be greatly missed.
