Kenneth John Gilbert (29 Mar 1937 - 25 Nov 2014)

In loving memory of Ken Gilbert who sadly passed away at home on 25th November 2014. Funeral took place at 2:10 PM on Tuesday 9th December at Chesterfield Crematorium, followed by a celebration of his life at Chester Street Club.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks for donations to Ashgate Hospice and Macmillan Cancer Support whose staff looked after Ken throughout his illness.

Kenneth John Gilbert was born and grew up in Baslow where he lived with his parents and ten siblings before moving to Newbold in Chesterfield. He finished his working life at Franke-Sissons before his retirement in 2003.

Ken married his wife Betty in 1969 and they recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary in October. Ken and Betty have two sons Simon and Martyn and two grandchildren Luke and Zoe.

Ken loved gardening, horse racing and walking the family dog Willow. He and Betty enjoyed nights out locally where they met many good friends.

A devoted family man, and a friend to many. He was much loved and will be fondly remembered.
