Two memories of Uncle Alan will stay with me forever. The first was him coming back from the FA Cup Final in 1973 with my dad, Eric, while we (the kids) played in the house all day at Kozi Kots. The other was when he came up to Manchester to look after my mum and our family, while dad was recovering from illness and I was on holiday, unaware that anything was wrong. That really showed the measure of the man. He will be sadly missed by all the Gardner family, and everyone who knew him. Rest in peace Uncle Alan.
