In loving memory of Darran Smith 'Beckett' who sadly passed away on 23rd January 2018 after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He leaves his wife Joanne of 30 years and daughter Leah, he was the youngest of six, leaving 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Darran grew up in Warsop and attended Meden and then Manor comprehensive school. After leaving school Darran became a heavy goods driver working for AG Barrs, Mansfield Brewery and more recently Noble Foods.

To his friends he was the life and soul of the party and lived life to the full, Darran loved shopping, listening to music and being outdoors especially walking with his beloved dog Bella.

He will be missed by all who knew him.

3 years this year mate.

Life had changed so much without you being here.

Leah doing well. Christ she’s nearly an adult!! Learning to drive. Got a job. You’d have been glowing with pride honestly!

Joanne doing good. She’s still slogging that wheel barrow about! 😂😂. She still misses you like crazy. We all do!

Love you mate x

Hi mate. Been thinking a lot about you recently. A lot of things happening where I could really do with just a chat and advice.

Still miss you every single day.

Joanne doing ok. She misses you like we all do.

It’s a long slog still adapting to you not being here with us all.

It’s taken me a while to find the write words to write on here, the right words to write how I’m feeling, the truth is I don’t think I ever will as nothing can describe how It feels to loose the man i looked to as a father figure, then man that always knew!! Who am I going to go to now?

Yesterday I felt ok, I smiled and laughed and thought of you, and remembered the texts I’d get “stick kettle on”, “get some work done” or the way you’d shout “hello” in only a way you could as you came through the door, or the times I had to massage oil into your back, or the holidays, day trips or nights out or even just a takeaway together!! The nights I fetched you home drunk, or told you off for being “stupid” the amount of times I had to say “Darran stop it”

But today i felt sad, angry and lost and find myself asking “why you?” But one thing im certain of, I’m missing you!

I do know the future is uncertain without you, and i don’t know how we will be without you but I do know right now it doesn’t feel right, it’s been such a roller coaster of emotions these past few months and it’s been the worst ride of my life!! Nothing could have prepared me for this but I thank god for the time myself, Ashley, Harrison, Lucy and Jack got with you, and the memories we have to treasure forever!!

Watch over us all and give us the strength to learn to adapt to a whole new life without you! As a family we will do our best! Sleep tight old man, Love you lots x

Don’t know where to start as they’re are to many great memories going through my head. Working alongside him renovating his houses to trips abroad like going to Benidorm and Darran telling me I had put weight on when he had swapped my jeans for Rimmos and like when he gave me chewing gum that turned my teeth blue always a joker, will always remember the great nights out with Darran,Rimmo and gang. Will always keep these memories of a great friend forever. I am sure he will be missed by all that became his friend. Our thought are with you Joanne & Leah at this sad time.
Love Andy & Jenny xx
