In loving memory of Dolores Durrant who sadly passed away on 15th January 2018
born in Mansfield on 20 Oct 1933 she grew up during the war years so knew the hardships that entailed along with others at that time .
She Gave birth to yours truly Michael in Nov 53 then married Dad Thomas and had five more children, Twin girls Linda & Julie sadly Julie past in 57,then came Jean, Beverly and lastly Christopher.
Mum worked for numerous local factories during the sixties.Mandora.Etams,Viella and later Metal Box, Eastwood chickens at Bilsthorpe the list goes on as in those days work in the area was varied and plentiful then in the late sixties started at Ashfield Clinic at Kings mill hospital as a nursing auxiliary that one she really loved and was there for a number of years.
Sadly as things change mum and dad split and mum moved with her new partner Jim Durrant to Portsmouth where they both worked as lollypop man & woman at the local school they wed in 1980 and later moved back to Mansfield and mum started to work as a mobile care worker in the local area until Jim became very ill and mum became his full time carer until his death in late 1999.
After that mum carried on enjoying life she purchased the ugliest little shiatsu puppy I had ever seen and named him Ricky he stayed with her for over 15 years but never got any prettier but she loved that little doggy to bits. And when she lost him as well it really hit her hard as the loss of our pets always seam too.
She has sailed various cruises and visited some wonderful places around the world in her life.
She visited Perth Australia to see her sister who emigrated in the 60s,The panama canal, Mexico ,The Caribbean The Baltic and Mediterranean with another close friend .
Ill health and failing legs finally stopped all that and in 2016 she finally had to go into a nursing home until on 12th Jan 2018 whilst living at the Kingfisher Care Home in Sutton in Ashfield was rushed to hospital with breathing problems. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday 15th January 2018.I was by her side .
Yes she made mistakes through her life and boy some crackers and she had her faults as well like we all do but at times like these we try not to remember them because we loved her
Bye Mum xxx
