In loving memory of Christine Rockenbach who sadly passed away on 15th January 2018
Her mother Lilly Braithwaite, who already had 2 girls Val & Wendy, in 1944 was expecting a big baby boy, but got identical twin girls, Christine & Carole. Christine was born and bred in Walthamstow and during her teenage years swam for the Borough. She was a keen netballer, and played competitively for both companies Save & Proper, and Thomas R Miller where she worked at the time. Later Carole joined Millers, and with Chrissie, they became the greatest pair of defenders netball has ever seen.
Chrissie married Dave in 1976 and then had Chloe & Sally who were born in the early 80's, and she eventually retired from Millers. Rather than put her feet up, she started working on her sewing machine, to make beautiful matching outfits for her girls and then moved on to curtain making. She managed to juggle being a fantastic mum as well as running a successful soft furnishing business.
Chrissie was very proud of her 2 daughters, who both graduated from University and have gone on to marry Alex and Ben. They all live locally and together have spent many years socialising as a family.
Chrissie had found great pleasure over the recent years in her grandchildren, the handsome Charlie and beautiful Emily. Both inheriting their high cheekbones from their nana.
Chrissie was loved by everyone who met her and she will be dearly missed.
