So sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure if your dad Ken Edwards was my friend from years ago when I worked for ICI in the United States in the late 1980s and 1990s. If not, then possibly you would know them as well as I know that he attended St. Mary's Church in Wrexham.

My friend Ken arranged for me to visit England for meetings at ICI in Runcorn Heath around 1990. We were both in telecommunications and coordinating the installation of international circuits. He set me up in the Old Hall in Frodsham and took me to visit his home where he was finishing building a snooker room above his garage. He took me up to the roof of the tower of St. Mary's in Wrexham which is how I found this obituary.

Later I arranged for Ken to visit the United States. We had some unplanned adventures that were my fault but we had a good time. I took him to Washington, DC and we ran out of gas on the freeway on the way back so Ken got a ride in a police car to my house where he was staying with me. I took him to New York City, we went to the Empire State Building and then the World Trade Center and my car got towed!

I also took him to Philadelphia and a drive through the country. Ken was surprised that it was so much like England and that he really hadn't wanted to visit the USA. I asked him what he expected and he said "Disney Land". He was a great friend and I've tried unsuccessfully over the years since the Internet developed to track him down.

I'm retired now and while watching Time Team episodes I tried to find the church that I visited with Ken and found it. I thought it was in Acton but it's definitely St. Mary's in Wrexham. I tried once more to search for a Ken Edwards in Wrexham and found your listing.

I know your Ken passed in 2018 and I hope that you're doing well. 74 is not very old anymore, I hope, though I've had more friends and family pass away than I would like.

If your Ken is the same as mine then know that it made me very sad to see this obituary. He was a wonderful person, a lot of fun, very good at his job and a good friend.

Most sincerely,

Fred Reimers
