In loving memory of Edna May Flipping who sadly passed away on 31st December 2017, aged 89 years.

Edna's funeral will be held at Medway Crematorium on Wednesday 17th January at 9am. Her family will not be wearing black but we leave it up to you to wear whatever you feel most appropriate. Please bring with you either something that Edna made, a photograph or something else that reminds you of her. As large or as small as you like.

We would ask you not to send flowers but instead make a donation to the charity closest to Edna's heart, Macmillan Cancer Support. Cheques made out to the charity may be sent c/o John Weir, Rainham or made on-line via this site.

You know Edna as a generous, kind and inspirational lady. Funny, loyal, intelligent and skilled, she brought life to every occasion. Whether you are reading this as family or friend, we are sure that you have happy memories and we would appreciate you sharing those memories with us, either on this site or at her home after the funeral.

Most of all, Edna was a loved and loving Mum, Grandma, sister and Aunty Edna. A good friend to all who knew her.

The space she leaves in our world is vast and unfillable.

I have lovely memories of Mrs Flipping as secretary at St Thomas of Canterbury School where my children attended. She was a very kind, efficient and friendly person. In recent years I met her when she was a member of a flower arrangement group which was one of her many talents.

She will be sadly missed.

Rest in Peace

I knew Mrs Flipping when she was secretary at St Thomas of Canterbury RC School when three of my children were there. She always had a smile for everyone and was so efficient and caring and loved by the children. I have met her on a few occasions in her retirement and she still had that same lovely disposition. May she rest in peace.

I loved my cousin Edna when I was a little girl, that love never waned. I will always remember her lovely smile. She always managed to persuade aunty Lena (my mum) to let me have clothes less practical more pretty.

My Auntie Edna was such a loving, caring and thoughtful person and I always looked forward to either speaking to her or a visit........whenever I visited she would always show me what she had made and I took, with her permission, quite a few home to make. I will miss her very much. A true inspiration.

Auntie Edna was always my inspiration I had always wanted to learn how to make a quilt in one very long day with her I made my first of the 20 quilts that I have made since, I loved sharing my creations with her as she was proud and impressed at my achievements, the void she leaves in my heart is immense, thank you Auntie Edna for sharing and teaching me, you will be loved and missed always, truly a talented inspirational Auntie, goodbye, for now xxxxxx

  • Dear dear Auntie Edna how we will all miss you so very much, you brought so much joy into the lives of everyone you met and you even tolerated those who did not appreciate your generosity. I am honoured to have known you and will always treasure those special memories that will never be forgotten. Your end was swift which for you was a blessing but a shock to all of us that loved you so dearly. I am truly blessed to have known you and deeply regret that I am unable to pay my respects in person.
