In loving memory of Lauren Wilson who sadly passed away on 28th December 2017 aged 23.
Lauren was born 21/7/1994 and enjoyed a normal healthy bubbly life until she was aged 5 when it was noticed her eyesight was becoming impaired,sadly she was diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa,a disease which damages the optic nerve and leads to blindness,and it eventually took its toll on Lauren.
This never dampened Lauren’s enthusiasm for life,and she continued to be the bubbly loud and fun girl without ever complaining once.
A few years later once again she was struck a blow,this time with battens disease,a fatal illness for which there is no cure.
Known for her love of music and singing,she could be heard regularly upsetting the peace and quiet around her,and pity anyone who would tell her to stop! She simply told them NAW!
After her school years,and residency in the Royal Blind school,it was decided that due to her need of constant care she would now reside at Haydale Care Home,where it has to be said she enjoyed her best years ,there are no words to describe the comfort and reassurance given to me that she was in the proper care. The staff simply embraced her as their own family and treated her as such,despite having their own duties, and we are eternally grateful to them for that. Sadly Lauren’s illness took its toll and she passed away on 28/12/17 peacefully and with dignity in her comfort zone at Haydale.

I was so sad to hear of Lauren’s passing. I have such fond memories of her singing various Kylie songs and ‘girls just wanna have fun’ ...belting out those lyrics with such force in the music room at Royal Blind School. She loved her music and was such a ray of sunshine x my thoughts are with you all x I will never forget Lauren x
