In loving memory of the late Joyce 'Known as Jo' Turner who sadly passed away on 17th November 2014. Jo Hall was born on 25/05/1939 at Hartington Hall in Northumberland. She was the youngest of 8 and had an idyllic childhood growing up on the farm. She met a young RAF serviceman, Harry Turner, who had been stationed at The Grange whilst doing his national service. They were married on 27th August 1958 at Cinderhill Church. They made their home in Nottingham, and lived in Bulwell for a time and then later settled in Hucknall. They had 2 children, Philip and Joanne. Jo trained as a nurse for a time, and was based at the City Hospital, Nottingham. Later she also worked at Weldons, and had also worked behind the bar at The Griffins Head in Papplewick. She returned to nursing later on and spent several years working on F2 ward at the City. Jo also went on to work in community care, and used to bicycle between clients. Sadly, Harry passed away in 1994. By then Jo had become a granny to George, and she often said that little George kept her going in the weeks and months after Harry died. Jo became more and more involved in her local community, working as a volunteer driver, and at under one roof and cottage crafts. She travelled widely and particularly enjoyed her trips to New Zealand and Canada. She also loved to return to Northumberland whenever she could, to visit family and to enjoy the countryside that had become part of who she was.
