The family of Simon Axup have to impart the heart-breaking news of his sudden death, aged 48. Generous and kind-hearted, he was the loyal and devoted son of Peter and June, the steadfast and loving husband of Becky and the doting and infatuated father of his darling Eliza Angel. Simon will also be dearly missed by his sister Tina, both wider families, friends and colleagues who are all invited to celebrate his life and legacies on January 19th 2018 at 3.45pm at The Surrey and Sussex Crematorium, Balcombe Road, Crawley, RH10 3NQ, and afterwards at The Red Lion, 48 Linkfield Lane, Redhill, RH1 1DP, between 6 and 8 pm.

Any items of red and white attire (up the Imps!) would have given him great satisfaction.

Please, no flowers. Donations to Alzheimer’s Research UK would be gratefully received and can be given on the day or posted to Stoneman Funeral Services, Dorian Court, Reigate Rd., Redhill, RH1 6AZ.

Looking forward to seeing you there if you can make it, with all understanding if it’s not possible.

For those travelling from a distance, there are two Travelodges in Redhill, one brand new and a 10 minute walk from the Red Lion (26, London Rd., Redhill, RH1 1NN), and the other about a 15 minute walk (2, Redstone Hill, Redhill, RH 1 4BL).

I went to sincil bank today to collect the commemorative programme with the names of those remembered. My mum was included. While looking through the names I saw Simon's name & was incredibly shocked. I was a few years above Simon at school & he had asked me to sponsor him when he was confirmed & he always called himself his God son, something I was very proud of. I would meet Simon at far flung places where the imps were playing. He mentioned me in the notes he wrote for the Lincoln City programme and I still have that programme. I am so sorry to hear this news. He would have been so happy to see the imps at Wembley. I can imagine him & my mum sharing a cheer up in heaven. My condolences to all the family particularly Tina who I was at school with. I will be going to port vale on Saturday & will cheer louder than usual in Simon's memory. Love Andrew Cox

Wow - what a service that was! Very emotional, very heart-warming, very different and very amusing. The memory of people in their 'wings' or 'goggles' going up and down the aisle will stay with me for sometime. Simon going out in style.

It’s hard to lose a good and supportive colleague,
It’s hard to lose a strong and inspiring leader,
It’s so hard to lose a compassionate and warm friend.
It’s even harder to lose our dear Simon who for many of us was all of these and more.

The big loves in his live were certainly Eliza & Becky and his Imps.
I remember he always talked with an incredible warmth and love about you, his family and friends, so that you almost could feel your presence.
It was always very clear that his family and friends had a very special and warm place in his hearth.

Simon thanks for being there for all of us. You certainly brought joy and inspiration to our lives, you leave a strong legacy to live up to,
but most of all you also leave a very warm place in our hearts.

Simon, I have had the honour of working with you, few people have made a difference in our careers and you have been one of those. But beyond that, you have made a change in our lives, in the way we see and treat each other, you have been always there and you will remain forever.

Simon, your wit, spirit and awful golf will live forever in my memory. So sad but the good ones always seem to go first. Rest in Peace my friend, 'Up The Imps'!
Becky, so sorry we cannot be with you today but both Tara and I will be thinking of you and Eliza at this difficult time. But we will also be remembering a good man who gave us so much support, joy and laughter when we were strangers in a foreign land and needed good friends.

Simon, you always pushed us to aim for the mountains so that we would be able to find the valleys. And this is something that I hope will stick with me forever. I'll be thinking of you and your family. RIP.

Simon this is a message for you... you were not just my manager... you were a colleague, a friend... the person that taught me so much! You always believed in me no matter what and I will never forget that... You always knew the right words to say. I can only try to keep as much of that alive in what I do. You were the glue that kept us together. Passionate about your work and people. Its hard to talk to you knowing you wont respond... you always had an answer to everything I asked you... and it still feels like you are around... I guess you kind of are... I am proud that I got the Chance to be part of your life. You will always be in my memory and heart... Farewell my friend... x

Simon had an incredible ability to connect with others and was always focused on ensuring their issues and problems were put before his. He was a very genuine person and something I will try to emulate.
