In loving Memory of my brother Andrew Moden, Ex. Royal Navy Submariner, suddenly taken from us on the 17th December aged 53 after a short illness in hospital. The much loved youngest son of Janet and the late John Moden, Brother of Clare, Paul and David, Fiancée of Cheyrl, a dear Brother -in-law to Lisa and Stephen, Uncle to Donna, Stuart, Adam, Hannah and Elliott, Great Uncle to Ryan, Jack, Callum, Jessica and Ollie.
Also a great friend to the many who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Andrew left school and Joined the Royal Navy in July 1981 as a Junior seaman. having completed Basic Naval Training he volunteered to join the Submarine Service and underwent further training at HMS Dolphin, the Royal Navy Submarine School. This is where he began his specialist submarine Sonar training. he spent the early part of his career in " Resolution" class submarines and later "vanguard" both involving the deployment of the National Strategic deterrent.
In 1985 Andrew served abroad at HMS Rooke in Gibralter. He was rated Acting Leading Seaman in 1986 and returned to the UK in 1987 where he completed his Leading Rates Professional Course and Leading Rates Leadership Course.
In 1993 Andrew was selected to undergo some intensive training to enable him to not only operate the on-board computerised systems but also to maintain and repair them. He was shore based and assisted in the training of both his subordinates and senior officers in all Sonar and Tactical related procedures.
He retired from the Royal Navy in 2004 after more than 22 years service.
Since leaving the Royal Navy Andrew has always been gainfully employed working in a Security involved background.

Venimus Invisibilium.

Andrew moden was a wonderful brother always kept himself busy and with a strong ambition to do well in the navy. The career he chose as a submariner was a very demanding one but he threw himself into it and learned every aspect of his job knowing it well enough to be able to teach others his skills. He was highly respected and never forgot his family who were very fond of him. It is with great sadness that i say goodbye brother and hope to see you in prayer.

Taken far to soon, served with Mo on HMS/M Revenge, was a first class guy to know and work with, both on the casing and in the sound room. knew his job inside out. will defiantly be remembered by all who sailed with him,

Sincere and heartfelt condolences to Mo's family, close friends & all his Naval Oppo's.
I'm struggling to accept the fact that Mo's no-longer with us on this Earth. And I'm annoyed at myself for not getting in contact these last couple of years since moving to Lincolnshire .... oh what a night we'd-of-had .... but sadly that's not to be.
Rest easy Mo with no more discomfort, stress, worry or pain.
Your Old-Oppo.
Moses.

I served on HMS Revenge with Andy , or Mo as we called him. Always had a smile and a laugh to share. Not seen him for many years but have many memories of time spent in his company including a memorable holiday to Tenerife in the late 80s with me and four other shipmates. Stand Easy my friend! • The Family would also like 4 or maybe 6 of his Shipmates dressed in uniform to carry his coffin into both the church, out of the church and into the Crematorium, please let us know if anyone would like to volunteer for this role and give Andrew his well deserved Send-off
