In loving memory of Mary Ellen Sargent who sadly passed away on 28th November 2017
Mary Ellen Flood was born on 10th March 1920 in Holbeach St. Matthew. She was born to Ethel Annie Flood (nee Bird) and Frederick William Flood and she was one of 15 siblings. Mary's dad was a farm labourer and so, they lived on a farm where there were crops, chickens and pigs.
Mary moved to Leicester aged 14 after she joined the National Service. One of her early jobs was at the Trocadero where she worked as a cook.
On the 31st January, aged 21, Mary married Albert Sargent. Mary and Albert had 7 children, Jennifer, Vivian Carol, Georgina Margaret, Patricia, Max, Malcolm and Dawn. Mary also lost a child 'born sleeping' between Malcolm and Dawn.

Beautiful flowers from Colin, Sandra and family. So bright and colourful. Grandma would have loved them. Xx

Grandma asked for this angel as there was one at my mum's funeral. We chose it for mum's brothers and sisters as a tribute and grandma liked the sentiment. It was also a symbol of her faith.

Grandma always had a horseshoe on her back door 'for luck'. Seeing a horseshoe reminds me of grandma's and the times we went to Country and Western events. The most recent horseshoe that grandma had was from Auntie Margaret. I now have this to cherish.
