Izzy, Frankie and Mollie about to run 'Pretty Muddy' for Collette. Brilliant day May 2017
In loving memory of Collette Mary Short nee Dawson who sadly passed away on 23rd November 2017 after a long battle with cancer and true to her personality, never being one to give up, she fought it until the very end when she peacefully left us holding hands with her beautiful children.
Collette will be missed by so many including all her family and especially Izzy & Dom who were both so proud of their mum. She has passed on to them her own greatest gifts of compassion, friendship, loyalty, intelligence and an impressive work ethic and encouraged in them an unbreakable bond.
Everyone will have their own memories and their own version of the Collette they met. She was an amazing Mum, Daughter, Sister & Aunt who will leave a very big hole in all our lives but will continue to inspire us to move forward and embrace the future knowing she is always beside us.
Collette was amazing, generous, caring and a loyal friend who touched so many lives and was always there for anyone who needed advice, a shoulder to cry on or just an excuse for champagne or cocktails! She loved books and the English language, theatre, food, eating out at some of the best restaurants, she was a renowned shopper, had an amazing clothes, shoes & handbag collection, loved music and to dance but above all she loved the time she spent with her children family and friends.
Collette supported many charities and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of others through them. She trekked in Cambodia for MacMillan, across the Sahara for The Rosie May Foundation and was a director for Maggies cancer centre in Nottingham. She was an amazing, caring family solicitor who had achieved her ultimate goal of setting up her own business of which she was immensely proud, a talented writer and wonderful poet with so many talents and such a way with language.
There is not enough space or enough words to do justice to Collette's life and the impact she had on us all here so please join us on Thursday 7th December.
There will only be family flowers but if you would like to make a donation Collette nominated The John Van Geest Cancer Research Centre at Nottingham Trent University. Donations can be made by clicking on the Donate Now link on this page.
There will be a small service on Wednesday evening, 6th December at 7pm when Collette will be brought into the church. The memorial service will then be held at St Barnabus Catholic Cathedral, Derby Road, Nottingham, NG138PE on Thursday 7th December at 11am, followed by a private burial which is by invitation only. The family would then like to invite everyone to East Bridgford Hall, East Bridgford, NG138PE afterwards. The hall will be open to all from 13.30 onwards where tea, coffee & cake will be served. The family will join you all after the burial so please stay and spend the afternoon with us all sharing stories, photos, memories and celebrating Collette's life.
Following this there will be a celebration evening which is open to all of Collette's family and friends at The Greyfriars Club, Gordon Road, St Anns, Nottingham, NG32LG from 18:00 onwards please join us for food, drinks & music.
