In loving memory of Sydney John Hill who sadly passed away on 11th November 2017 aged 81 years.

Syd was born and raised in East Bridgford, Nottinghamshire on 10th April 1936 and was the youngest of 3 children to parents John & May.

He carried out his national service in Cyprus with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (REME) and on his return would fall in love with Doreen who he married on the 1st April 1961.
They then set up home in Gunthorpe, Nottinghamshire where they would go on to share over 56 years of wedded bliss.

Over the years he became a loving parent to Angela, Adrian & Stuart and, after Angela married Paul, a proud grandad to Samantha & James.

Syd was an active participant in Gunthorpe village life whether that be playing darts & skittles for the local pub, helping to organize the village fete in its early days, a period of time on the village hall committee or as a neighbourhood watch & flood warden

Syd loved sport especially football, tennis, athletics & he was an enthusiastic bowls player for over 30 years.

Syd also had a passion for gardening, the outdoors & nature. He would also love to "get away" with trips ranging from a holiday of a lifetime to Canada to day trips on a coach and everything in between.

Syd will be greatly missed by his family and many friends who will always remember him as "a lovely man".
