In loving memory of Audrey Crump who sadly passed away on 28th October 2017.
Audrey Parish was born on 16th September 1931 at Cavendish Street Mansfield Woodhouse, she was the youngest of 3 brothers and a sister. John her Father died when she was 2 years old and Gertrude her mother remarried when she was 6 and had 2 more children. Unfortunately in those days it was not uncommon for women to die in childbirth and Gertrude passed away when Audrey was 8.
Audrey lived a simple life, she liked, ballads, dance music and carols. The first clothes she bought with her own money were a brown skirt and a blouse made out of parachute silk. She liked Alan Ladd and Doris Day, Loved going to the cinema and dancing with Lester. Audrey and Lester were married St Lawrence’s church in Mansfield – she said it was the happiest day of her life. They had 2 sons Martin and Kevin.
Martin unfortunately died tragically in 1991 and Lester very suddenly in 1995. For Audrey this was a time of great sadness and as she had relied so much on Lester she had to learn to readjust her life to making decisions by herself and learning how to do everything without Lester taking the lead.

Audrey found this period in her life very difficult and was often lonely and depressed. It was during this period that a lovely man from the local church came to do some work in her home and seeing her so lonely invited her to go to one of the church functions. And as they say…… the rest is history. Audrey made many friends in this church. She loved the social activities and after along time of being in the ‘wilderness’ had finally found not only kind and friendly people but had found a faith. She loved listening to the Bible stories and singing the songs. She will be missed by so many people and remembered as a kind, loving lady.
