In loving memory of Judith Marion Kitchener who sadly passed away on 19th October 2017.
Mom has four children ,sadly her eldest daughter Rebecca passed away in 2004,leaving behind 4 children of her own .
Mom was one of eight , she had 5 brothers and 2 sisters.sadly she lost a brother in the 80’s ,and lost her sister just 5mnths before.
She has 8 niece and nephews.
Mom has 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
Moms love was her two dogs daisy and fleur and her two cats milo and fizz.
she would walk the dogs most days depending on how her health was,while she was out walking she would take her camera to try and capture the changing of the seasons .moms other love was gardening,she would even potter around in mine ,
Mom was on dialysis for many years at the samual Johnson unit. I think she actually struggled and missed the place terribly when she was lucky to receive a transplant in November 2013 . It had been her life,routine for so long.
In the last few years of moms life things were a little difficult, it would seem that mom had upset and alienated some people.it was a struggle.
It so happened that mom had early onset dementia which no one ,not even she herself knew about.
Her temperament had changed and she always seemed so ‘Mean’ ,hindsight is always a great thing.
maybe if I had known earlier on I would of been a little more patient,a little more loving,a little more understanding. A better daughter to her. Like I say say hindsight would be awsome.
Moms biggest fear was having dementia,in a way I’m glad she never knew about it. I hope people ,me included can forgive the last few years and remember her before those times.

I met Judy in 1991 in the staff canteen at Good Hope Hospital, Judy was with her group of fellow Student Nurses and I was joining them after returning from maternity leave to recommence my Student Nurse training. I came away from that introduction to my new group with a new friend in Judy. Judy was the one I remembered and I think everyone remembered Judy once they had met her, she was always the friendliest, warmest and most outspoken one in any group, she brimmed with ideas, enthusiasm, positively and questions…. So many questions! As a Student Nurse she was really observant and questioned everything, she saw things other people didn’t and she questioned it. I learnt so much from that, she was a brilliant student and when I was studying I found myself asking ‘what would Judy ask about this?’
As a nurse Jude was very popular and so caring, her sense of humor cheered up patients and staff and one year she helped organise an amazing Halloween party for the elderly residents at one of her placements, they had only really turned up for a bath and a cup of tea so were pleasantly surprised and a good time was had by all.
Jude and I lived close to each other for many years and rode each other’s life roller coaster together, she was there when I decided to cut my nurse training short and sit the enrolled nurse exam after having my second child and we went through Judy’s declining health which took away some of her sparkle and ended her nursing career. We both had relationship breakdowns and spent many late nights chatting (and smoking) at my kitchen table, the conversations got quite spiritual at times and Judy took comfort in believing that our loved ones stay around us in spirit.
I remember how Judy decorated her house at Christmas and loved her Christmas globes, and I remember her plans to live on a Barge with her dogs, and wasn’t there at least one cat too? She loved her pets and was a great dog trainer by the way! And while looking at boats she got chatted up by a man at one Marina I took her to who offered to ‘show her his boat for a weekend!’ I also remember how Judy was so active running a parent support group for children with ADHD and arranged an amazing educational and awareness day. She thought of others so much and touched so many lives and made things better, always thinking outside the box and making things happen. Yes you could never forget Judy once you met her. Judy was one of the most loyal, best and closest friends I ever had.
I was with Judy when we lost Becky, feeling helpless while Judy and Victoria were so brave and the whole family so heartbroken. More of Judy’s sparkle went out as she dug deep and carried on. She remained outspoken and passionately caring for her children and grandchildren even though at times it may not always have seemed like that because she wasn’t afraid of showing tough love too you know …. In fact I got the odd telling off myself once or twice!
Judy was and always will be a one off, a unique character who could never be forgotten. It with a lot of regret that we lost touch.
I remember Judy taking some comfort from this poem when Becky passed away:
Do not weep for me for I have not gone.
I am the wind that shakes the mighty Oak.
I am the gentle rain that falls upon your face.
I am the spring flower that pushes through the dark earth.
I am the chuckling laughter of the mountain stream.
Love always and rest in Peace x

It sad to hear we have lost such a wonderful lady who was like another mum to me growing up with the help of her daughters and son she would look after me take me places such as sutton park and was there when needing someone to talk to. Judith you will be sadly missed by many but I will always remember the good times and memories I have of your life. Heaven has gained another angel to watch over us. Rest in peace my dear friend and I send my condolences to all the family
