To my Great Uncle Gordon

They didn't put the word "great" in to your title for no reason. What a great uncle you really were to us all.
Always making us all laugh and being the life and soul of any family gathering.
You went way to soon and will be so very missed by so many people. Yesterday was a wonderful tribute to all the lives of everyone you have touched.
Keep making everyone smile up there.
Miss you.
Lots of love
Jodie xxxx

Gordon
I would just like to thank you for the friendship and love you shared with my Mum and Dad (Alex and Fran) over the past thirty odd years. I know Dad loved his Sunday afternoons practicing for upcoming gigs, you on the keyboard and Dad on his guitar. You both shared the same love of music and many great memories were made whilst you were out 'gigging' as Midnight Blue. There are a couple of discos still in the diary and I know Dad will do his utmost to make you proud.....

Today was such a hard day, you will be sorely missed but you will never ever be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of your beautiful family and your many friends.

Rest in peace Gord.....love Em and family xxxx

Gordon’s passing has come as a blow to us all and our sympathies and thoughts go out to Nicola, Mathew, Jason, Lisa and Daphne. Gordon was one of those people who not only always had a smile but also brought a smile to all who came into contact with him. His sense of humour, his generosity and kindness were always at the forefront; I know he would do anything to help anyone. If you had a problem Gordon could solve it, no matter how big, he had a solution, this was very comforting to us mere mortals. Gordon was also a very intelligent guy, there was not a lot you could tell Gordon about ventilation systems and associated rules and regulations, a subject some might find a little tedious but not Gordon, this shone through in his professional life, where he was highly regarded by all who worked with him. As for Gordon’s hobbies, well we all know he loved his sport including cricket, golf and football. But of course his main passion I believe was his music. Gordon was a fine musician who played in many bands from the early sixties right up until just before he passed away, a truly amazing record indeed. However, we must also pay tribute to Nicola, Gordon's wife. Gordon and Nicola were together for over twenty years. These were certainly some of the happiest of times for Gordon and he often spoke fondly of Nic. A truly lovely lady who looked after her man. Our thoughts and prayers are with Nicola during these sad times.

Gordon and I first met at the “Live Aid” concert back in the early eighties; he was playing bass guitar with a blues band whilst I was on guitar with a Shadows tribute band. Shortly after our bass player moved on and so I was soon chasing Gordon to join us, thankfully he did and we soon had a musician who would raise our standards. For some reason Gordon and I hit it off musically and personally. As most bands do, we eventually split due to ‘musical differences” but fortunately Gordon and I remained in contact, eventually joining forces as a duo, as by now Gordon was doing vocals and playing keyboard!! (Where did he get it from?). And so our little band was born and we hit the road playing gigs here there and everywhere! Oh what happy days and memories! Most bands run their course and ours was no exception and so we went our separate ways to other bands and pastures new. Thankfully some years later we resumed our musical partnership; it seemed as if we just picked up from where we left off and so it was back on the road but this time at a more sedate pace; for us it was all about the music and fun. We played what was to be our final gig in July this year again making great music and making people happy. What a way to end! Fran and I really enjoyed our times together with you and Nicola.
Bye for now Gordon, as my guitar stands silent, but we will never forget you and your zest for life.

Love, Alex and Fran xx

I first met Gordon in 1982 when I started work at Kings and Gordon worked across the road at Rung.
We continued to cross paths ever since with Gordon at Selkirk/SFL etc and me with Rung.
Gordon was always happy, funny and enthusiastic with a wry, naughty sense of humour. We had some great Rung Christmas Dinners courtesy of Gordon with his Selkirk entertainment allowance!
So sad and unfair that he has been taken so soon. He will be greatly missed.
Deepest condolences to his family. Love Marie xx

So sorry to hear the news about Gordon. Every time we met he was always smiling and had a good joke or a sports story. A true professional who will be greatly missed by all that knew him and the industry.

From all at RUNG, we send out condolences to the family for such a great loss.

Uncle Gordon

There are no words to express just how heartbroken we all are at your passing – you have gone far too soon!

Nothing can or ever will fill the gap that you have left in our lives!

You always lit up a room the moment you walked in and then there was that beaming smile of yours, we couldn’t help but smile along with you. It’s fair to say the party really got started when you arrived.

You could wow us with your ability to create and play great music and oh those dreadful jokes, they still made us laugh though – it’s the way you told them!

But there was another side to you Uncle Gordon, you were always there for us through the good times and the not so good times. I know you were always there to help, support and encourage me through some pretty tough times.

There is so much more I should have said while you were still with us.

I have always had enormous admiration and respect for you. You always threw yourself 100 percent into any activity or project, whether it was sports, learning to play an instrument or your work.

Whenever life dealt you a bad hand you just brushed yourself down and carried on to the next chapter in your life.

You didn’t once complain, there was never any self pity or asking ‘why me? you just did what needed to be done and moved forward.

I know my girls had many wonderful times with their great uncle Gordon and we have so many fantastic memories to cherish.

But I wouldn’t hesitate to swop all those wonderful memories just to have you back here with us now in good health.

To Auntie Nicola, Mathew, Jason and Daphna, Lisa, Maisie and Archie there are few words I can give you that could help you through this time of great sadness, simply to say he has gone far too soon, he was truly loved and will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to meet and to know him.

To my uncle Gordon and a great friend from a proud nephew… I wish you goodnight, sleep well.

All our love Lee, Sue, Jodie, Kelly, Rhys and Lillian xxxx

So very sorry to hear your sad news of Gordon.
Words just can't describe how you must be feeling and hope you find some comfort in the many thoughts and memories of all those that knew him.
He was a much respected and loyal colleague to me, and on the occasions that saw we him socially we both remember him as a warm and kind man, with a great sense of humour, a love of music, life, and of his family, a true professional and gentleman, it has been a pleasure and honour to have known him.
Our thoughts, and love are with you all, Clive and Diane xx
