In loving memory of Edna Vera Broddell who sadly passed away on 17th October 2017 Age 95 years young.
Born 12th August 1922 in Norwich, Norfolk to Dorothy and Redvers Dann. Edna had two sisters, Gwen (Michigan USA) and Valerie (Norwich),and brother Donny. (Halifax, Nova scotia).
Edna left the College School at 14 years old, working as a laundry packer then a GPO telephonist. She married Cyril Broddell on 10th January 1942 and moved to Nottingham, working in the bomb factory, checking bombs. She was a member of the Mother's Union and a Sunday school Teacher, attending local churches and the Salvation Army throughout her life. They had three children. Rita, Graham and Stephanie. Edna and Rita ran a general grocery shop for nearly 30 years in Bulwell, Nottingham. On retiring to Hucknall, Nottingham, Edna volunteered and enjoyed her time at the Citizens Advice Bureau. Moving back to Bulwell, Cyril passed away in 1998, Edna staying independent until 94 1/2 years old when she had to move into the Fairway View Care Home. Unfortunately Edna suffered a fall on 10th September 2017 from which she never recovered. Edna was well-known for her elegant style, always impeccably dressed and hair done. Her family called her 'The Queen' as she bore a resemblance to Queen Elizabeth. She will sorely missed by her family and friends and has been such a huge part of all our lives. Rest in Peace Edna xxxx
