In loving memory of Brian Smith who sadly passed away on 30th August 2017.
Brian was born in Carlton on 23rd September 1938,
He attended Chandos boys school until 1953.
When he left school he started work at Colwick railway sidings.
He married wife Sheila on 20th June 1959 and moved to London where he worked for LNER until 1961 returning back to Nottingham for the birth of his son.
He had a short spell at Hoveringham engineering before starting at Gedling Colliery where he spent 26 years until the closure forced redundancy, he spent his last years working for the bibliographical services until his retirement.
