In loving memory of Donald Craven who sadly passed away on 24th August 2017.
Don was born in Leeds in 1929 and spent his childhood in that area.
In the 1940's, Don joined the army, where he spent many happy years as a bandsman, travelling the World and making the music that he would enjoy for the whole of his life.
Discharged and back in Blighty, Don settled in the Lincoln area with his mother Annie. He worked in a bus garage for a time before beginning his long employment history with Lincolnshire Health at Harmston Hospital.
Continuing in the Health field, Don became an ambulanceman, especially enjoying his time at the then brand new Waddington Station, during a career which stretched over decades until a medical retirement in 1985.
It was during this time that Don courted and married his wife Beryl.
Retirement however, didn't mean putting his feet up with slippers on, Don made himself a firm favorite amongst the residents of St Botolphs Court where Beryl was the residential Warden.
His bingo calling was especially appreciated.
When retirement for Beryl entailed moving from the court, a number of addresses were enjoyed until the couple settled in sheltered housing in Meadow Way at Bracebridge Heath.
Once again, willingness to help others came to the fore at the local day centre, with involvement in the friendship club and the bingo at the complex. And for years Don was the minibus driver for the day centre.
Over the years Don had many interests, big bands, Military Bands and a further eclectic collection of music. The Battle of Britain flight, especially The Lancaster bomber and air shows. Eventing resulted in many attendences at Burghley. Travelling both at home and abroad, and an avid and competent driver until well into his 80's.
At the time of his marriage, Don became step-father to Gary and Tracy, and later grampy to Kirsty. He enjoyed family.
