In loving memory of Richard Waterton who sadly passed away on 1st August 2017. Richard was born in Leeds, West Yorkshire on 9th July 1918 and lived in Leeds working at the Post Office until he was called up for National Service in peacetime in July 1939. He served in the RAF in India & Burma during the war.
He married Edna in March 1945 & they settled in Meanwood, Leeds having their son Paul & daughter Anne Rosemary there with Richard working in the Civil Service.
In 1964 the family moved to Spalding, Lincolnshire where Richard became the Manager of the Employment Exchange (Job Centre) & then on to Boston in 1975.
Following nearly 30 happy years in retirement together Edna's health deteriorated & they move into Stonehaven Care Home in Quadring, Nr Spalding.
He was a lifelong member of The Methodist Church attending Meanwood, Broad St & Centenary & Gosberton churches. He was a member of The Rotary Club in Spalding, the 'Yorks & Lancs' & Civil Service Retirement
Fellowship in Boston & attended Boston West Rotary Club in his latter years.
Richard had a sense of humour, he was popular & well respected & always had a ready smile when he greeted people. He was always smartly dressed & never heard to swear. He was a gentleman.
