In loving memory of Alan Leslie 'Les' Viner who sadly passed away on 7th August 2017
Les was very proud to have served as an OTT in the RAMC, he was just as proud of the other OTTs that he served with. He always thought of them as a "band of brothers".
Having served in conflicts in the Oman and the Falklands he was awarded the MBE and became a serving Brother of ST. John. Those who survived the bombing of the Gallahad remain in a special bond.
On leaving the Army he launched himself onto the NHS, some of it survives! When he was forced to view the service from the other side of the bed he still tried to improve the service. Only a week before he died he took part in an interview with the physiotherapists as part of a research unit.
Always restless for new experience he moves on to try the next unknown...he may be quiet and still, somehow I doubt it! donations may be made for The Oesophageal Patients Association or sent in for the OTT Reunited Fund

I am very proud to have known Les and to have called him my friend, we served together in peace and in conflict, a lot of my knowledge about our trade is down to him, his dedication to the job and the professional way in which he carried out his duties were of the highest calibre. I am sorry that we lost touch and never got to have a wee dram together. Rest easy old friend, until we meet again . Cliff
