Anne Elizabeth Anderson (11 Apr 1948 - 6 Aug 2017)

In loving memory of Anne Elizabeth Anderson who sadly passed away on 6th August 2017

Mum was heartbroken after her beloved sister Therese died on 25th July after a long battle with cancer. Mum's energy drained very quickly after Therese passed, and she spent many days sleeping. She seemed a little better on 31st july and shortly after bringing in her washing that evening took a massive stroke in the basal artery of her brain. My Dad was with her and paramedics arrived within 15 mins. She was rushed to the Royal Infirmary where she spent 4 days on a ventilator.

The day of Therese' funeral Mum went downhill, she had never regained consciousness but had some response to our voices. We made the difficult desision to remove her ventilator on the 3rd Aug, and Mum had a peaceful 3 days sleeping and snoring until she took her final breaths on sunday 6th Aug at 21:35, the exact same time she took her stroke 6 days earlier.

Literally seconds after she passed, the song "I will always love you" by Whitney Houston came on the radio. A lovely last memory of our Mum. She was very peaceful in her last hours and took us by surprise when she very quickly passed away.

The care that Mum and ourselves received in the Royal was exemplary. The empathy from the doctors and nurses giving Mum one to one care inthe ICU wards touched our hearts very deeply.
