In loving memory of Willis Samuel Bennett who sadly passed away on 13th July 2017
A service at St. Edmund’s Church, Mansfield Woodhouse was followed by a short committal service at Mansfield Crematorium for Mr Willis Samuel Bennett (85), of Litton Road, Mansfield Woodhouse.
A life-long Mansfield Woodhouse resident, Mr Bennett was born at Blackgate Yard and educated at the National School, Welbeck Road.
Mr Bennett proudly served his national service with the 3rd The King’s Own Hussars. He was bus driver for H. Rouse & Sons Limited and latterly a lorry driver at Mason’s Construction and retired in 1990. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed taking holidays in Weymouth, jigsaws and travelling.
Mr Bennett, who died at King’s Mill Hospital, Sutton, was predeceased by his wife Doreen in 1990. He leaves his partner of 24 years Ruth, sons Peter, Phil, Alan and Dave, daughters-in-law, Diane, Sharon, Kathryn and Samantha, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Floral tributes were from immediate family. Donations in lieu of flowers were collected for The Stroke Association and the Daffodil Café at King’s Mill hospital.
The service was conducted by the Rev Jan Dewhirst, and arrangements by A. W. Lymn.
