In loving memory of Jean Rachel DAVIES (formerly White) who sadly passed away on 15th July 2017. Jean was born on the 18th May 1927 in Ipswich, Suffolk. The family moved to Trowell, in Nottinghamshire in 1939. Jean became a hairdresser training at Miss Rasen on Long Row, Nottingham, before taking up the post of Manager at the Cooperative hair Salon at Eastwood. Jean married Arthur Leslie Davies at Greasley Church on 2nd December 1950 & lived on Nottingham Road Giltbrook before moving to Hazel Drive, Larkfields, Nuthall in 1952. The family, with daughter Julia & Son Nigel lived there for 10 years before moving to Awsworth where they lived for 10 years & where Jean opened her own Hairdressing Salon on Main Street. The family briefly moved to Aldercar before Jean & Arthur became licencee's of the Rose & Crown public house on Church Street, Ilkeston. They spent many happy years at the Rose & Crown before taking over the Sandhills Tavern, (now The Dog & Quail) on Mansfield Road, Underwood. Retirement beckoned in 1988 after a marvellous & sucessful 9 years. Jean & Arthur stayed in Underwood for a few years before moving to Brinsley & Kirkby in Ashfield where Arthur passed away in 2004. At the time of her death Jean who had suffered greatly from Alzheimer's was in A nursing home. Jean had a full & happy life, travelling, socialising, oil painting, gardening, caravanning &. enjoying their grandchildren & dogs & cats All are welcome to join us in a celebration of Jeans life at Mansfield Crematorium on 3rd August 2017 at 12:15pm xx
Kind regards, Julia, Nigel & families ?
