In loving memory of Edna Doreen Kenny who sadly passed away on 9th July 2017.
Edna was born in Cwmgwrach Glamorgan South Wales. She had two sisters Annie and Beryl and two brothers William and Rhys. Edna comes from a family of Welsh colliers going back many years. Edna's father, Thomas, died as a result of lung disease due to working on the coal face. Edna's mother Isabella worked hard bringing up the children.
Edna joined the ATS when she was 17 and met her husband Peter in Egypt where they were both posted. They married on 19 March 1949 and recently celebrated 68 years of marriage having received 2 anniversary cards from the Queen.
Edna had two children Peter and Christine both born in Fontainbleu France. Being an Army family they moved to various countries in Europe. Edna worked hard to support and care for her family. She could knit, sew, embroider and often made clothes for her children and knitted jumpers cardigans gloves and socks for everyone. She could mend and repair clothes, she did this for many people.
When Peter left the army the family lived in Northolt where the children when to school. Edna was always supportive of the children encouraging them in all their pursuits. She was always there when they needed emotional and financial support.
Edna loved her grandchildren especially buying them presents and clothes from John Lewis in Milton Keynes. Edna and Peter enjoyed many holidays when Peter finally retired from the garage.
Edna's health began to suffer about 15 years ago and Peter looked after her beautifully, he did everything for her without complaint until his health deteriorated. Edna and Peter moved to Beechwood carehome where they were cared for with love and affection.
