Vernon has done an excellent job in writing about Mum and I am proud that I am one of Mrs Lye's Boy's!
Although I live in Pembrokeshire, my regular contact was by phone and it has hit me that I cannot pick the phone up and have a chat with Mum.
But I am glad I made memories in taking Mum on 2 or 3 holidays with me, to the Fens. As I was divorced, it enabled me to get away on a holiday and to have company with Mum. She was excellent company and she enjoyed the numerous trips we made to Lincoln Cathedral, Leicester Cathedral to see the new tomb of Richard III and I even arranged a mystery trip for her... a day trip to Cambridge without me. She went with Ann's sister Jen, and her husband Mick.
She also loved Burleigh House and our visits to the other towns in the area. We both got a holiday and I now have those memories which I will treasure.
The donations will go to a small dog rescue organisation in West Wales, called West Wales Poundies. They rescue dogs from local authority dog pounds before they are put to sleep after the legal 7 day period. I got my dog RJ there, and mum loved him as much as she did all dogs. The organisation is very small and they are always begging for money to fund their kennels and for vets bills. They do not have the resources of the RSPCA and the Dogs Trust. When you rescue a dog from a dogs home, you save their life and the life of the dog that can take their place in the kennel, until it finds a new loving home.
PLEASE DONATE and help save more dogs from being put to sleep. Mum loved dogs and she was looked after by a dog, until she was found by the owner, who came back for his dog. I am posting a photo of RJ. If you are looking for a dog, go to a rescue centre instead of giving money to a dog breeder.
I will miss Mum, as will Vernon and Julian.
