Funeral Director
In loving memory of Bryan John Miles who sadly passed away on 25th May 2017 after a short stay in hospital due to fibrosis of the lungs. Described as a lovely person and a gentleman by family and friends.
His family would love you to join them at his funeral to celebrate his life and afterwards to give him a good send off at his local pub The Six Bells, Old Perry Street, Northfleet, Kent DA11 8BT.
Bryan, known as Tom to his family because his father's name was Thomas, was born in 1938 and had many stories of experiencing the Second World War as a child. When he was eighteen he was called up for National Service. He served in the army for two years, mainly in Sharjah, Bahrain and Malta, all the while writing letters and sending photos to his sweetheart Barbara, who he married in 1960.
He built his own chalet bungalow in the mid-sixties which he lived in until he passed away. He brought up his family there, son Peter, who sadly passed away 22 years ago, and daughter Andrea, who misses her Dad so much.
He started his own car body repair business, B J Miles Accident Repair Specialists, in 1975 which eventually became a family business with Barbara, Peter, Andrea and her husband Marc all working alongside Bryan for many years until he retired in 2003.
On retirement his many projects included building a greenhouse, redesigning his garden to include a pond and vegetable beds, and renovating a classic Morgan to show standards.
In 2015 he was hit by a lorry and diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis in the same week. The injury diminished his chances of fighting the disease and though his lungs and body were strong from years of hard work, he could no longer continue his active lifestyle and gradually succumbed.
He is greatly missed by Barbara, Andrea and Marc, sisters Jean and Dawn, brother-in-law Pete, and brother-in-law Ken and sister-in-law Peg, but will be remembered with love and affection forever.
